22 Waterfalls lives up to its name, offering one of the most unique and adventurous farm stays in the Western Cape. Proclaimed as a private nature reserve, this working farm is beautifully situated at the foot of the Olifantsrivier Mountains near Porterville. It’s an accessible escape, just an hour and a half from Cape Town, where you can immerse yourself in a landscape of pristine fynbos, rugged mountains, and, of course, an incredible series of waterfalls.

The main attraction, and the reason for its famous name, is the spectacular hiking trail. This trail winds its way up the gorge, leading you past a staggering 22 individual waterfalls, each with its own unique character. Surrounded by indigenous fynbos and over 47 species of native trees, it's a paradise for nature lovers. The waterfalls are fed by year-round springs, ensuring a beautiful experience no matter when you visit.

The camping experience here is wonderfully authentic and back-to-basics, perfectly matching the rugged, natural environment. Beyond the famous trail, the farm offers plenty more to do. You can try your hand at bass fishing in the farm dams or explore the property on dedicated mountain bike trails, which include both technical single-track and more relaxed, family-friendly routes. As a working farm, there are also plenty of farm animals for children to see, making it a complete and unforgettable country adventure.

Best campsite ever!! We've been coming here for more than 8 years and it never disappoints, camping or staying in a chalet, you're always close to nature. While it is located in a very hot part of the country, there is plenty of shade under the beautiful trees as well as never ending cool swimming spots to take a dip during the hot part of the day, just make sure to stock up on ice (sold at the campsite) and water or cold drinks so you keep hydrated.

Beautiful views from the site which is set next to a stream. The camping site is grassed but sloping. We stayed on 2 sites, one of which was a double. Part of it was flat on dirt ground, but the rest was sloping grass which needed us to wedge our caravan quite a bit. The other pitch was quite small, flat and shaded, but was able to take a trailer with large rooftop tent. There is electricity provided, but no taps, so water needs to be collected from the washing up area at the ablution blocks. There are built-in braai stands on concreted areas next to the stream.
We went as far a the 3rd waterfall. There is a lot of climbing involved to get to the falls over rocks and boulders, ladders and narrow platforms. The falls are beautiful and surrounded by woodland, so a lot cooler than when back at base camp. They are worth the trek as they are worth seeing. There are also plenty of hiking trails to do.
The one downside to our stay was we were bitten to death even though we used insect repellents and there was a lot of flys too. Apart from that it was a very enjoyable stay and the owners are friendly and welcoming.

Awesome campsite! Beautiful shady spots right on the banks of a small stream — super peaceful and relaxing. The last stretch of gravel road is quite rough, so if you’re towing a normal caravan, drive slowly to avoid damage.

The bathrooms could definitely use an upgrade, and it would be great if the shower curtains were replaced with doors. The walking trails along the mountain are absolutely beautiful! There’s so much potential here — adding a swimming pool would make it perfect.

Even so, I’ll definitely camp here again! 🌿⛺️

Great spot for camping. Facilities clean and neat, all spots next to the stream coming from the waterfalls. Very safe and quite. Awesome hikeing trails.
