Sanddrif Holiday Resort

Stayed at campsite for the weekend.The abulution facilities were clean and the campsite is well maintained. The road to get to the location is abit hair raising but the location beautiful. The campsite is at the base of the Wolfberg Arch and cracks hike. I highly recommend this campsite.

An icon of the Cederberg. Overlooked by the Wolfsberg Cracks next to the river, the grassy camping sites are spacious with clean bathrooms. Fantastic for families and those who love the outdoors. Lots to do closeby.

Great campsite. Grass, trees & electricity. No wifi at the campsite (great). Free wifi available at the office a few minutes drive away. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly, but although gas geasers are used, hot water can be erratic.

Amazing time at Kliphuis campsite which is part of sanddrif Holiday Resort. On our last day, our vehicle broke down as we were leaving for home. I cannot express enough, my gratitude to David Nieuwoudt who assisted in so many ways to get us sorted. I have been camping at Kliphuis for many years and would fully recommend any of the camping facilities at Sanddrif or Kliphuis. Stunning views, spectacular hikes and the most welcoming and friendly staff.

We've been frequenting this campsite for many years. Since 1995. This must be my 20th overall visit. And my worst experience ever at any campsite.
About two nights ago. At 22h30 our neighbours came in. Loudly. Slamming doors. Loud conversations. Opening of quarts of beers. Trying to start a fire. Anything but setting up camp quietly as you'd expect late arrivals to do. I went out at 23h45 to quiten them and explain that the entire campsite is trying to sleep. No change in behaviour. I happen to understand Xhosa. My corrections were poorly received and the ruckus including a crying child continued until nearly 2am.
The next morning whilst the newcomers slept off their rust, I went to the reception to lay this complaint. They were already aware of the incident as one of these neighbours sold their meak rendition of the evening to them already. Painting me as the Mr Wilson character. I corrected them. They sent a campsite manager to explain to them the rules again.
Back at the camp, the entire day went on with quarts and brandy klinking off next to us. (don't forget the sub 3yo child standing in the middle of it all). Come evening. Maximal noise levels untill 22h00. Then down to 75%. This went on to 00h00. Needless to say. Tents provide suboptimal noise insulation and their fire was mere 5-8m from where me and my family tried to sleep.
My son's and I speak Xhosa quite well. The content of the conversations and disdain towards their nosy law abiding neighbours (us) was clear.
We packed up and left a day earlier. I hope Sanddrift takes notice. What once was a serene sharing of natures beauty alongside respectful like minded people has become a roulette bush sheebeen experience. Maybe I should be more open minded. Maybe not. Just know this could be your next camping experience.
