De Wildt 4x4

De Wildt 4x4 is a legendary destination for off-road enthusiasts, conveniently located on the northern slopes of the Magaliesberg mountains. Its incredible proximity to Pretoria (just 30 minutes) and Johannesburg (around an hour) makes it the perfect high-adrenaline escape for a day trip or a full weekend of adventure. The main attraction is, without a doubt, the incredible 4x4 trail itself. Designed to challenge both novice drivers and seasoned experts, it winds its way through the rugged mountain terrain, offering a series of technical obstacles, steep ascents, and rocky descents. While the main resort and campsite area is easily accessible with a standard car, a proper 4x4 vehicle with good ground clearance is essential to tackle the trail itself.

The campsite serves as the perfect basecamp for this adventure, offering a selection of stands where you can set up camp and relax after a day on the trail. Each site has access to an electrical point, and the communal ablution blocks provide reliable hot showers. The communal lapa and swimming pool become a social hub in the afternoons, where drivers gather to share stories, exchange tips, and enjoy a well-deserved braai under the bushveld sky.
