Description

De Hollandsche Molen offers a vibrant and family-orientated escape set in the heart of the Wemmershoek Valley, situated between the iconic mountains of Paarl and Franschhoek. Our family enjoyed a lovely day out at De Hollandsche Mollen on Saturday. The weather was perfectly cool with just the right amount of sun to enjoy a dip in the olympic size swimming pool which we practically had to ourselves due to it probably being out of season and the holy month of Ramadan. The advance easy online entry ticket purchase via Webtickets was uncomplicated and just makes entry into the resort a breeze.

This is our all time favourite family gathering venue and will make a point of going end February annually.

The property is well located in a convenient and prime area, based on my visit today. I was there for business purposes, specifically for team building, and not for leisure, so I did not have the opportunity to enter or review the rooms and therefore cannot rate them.

However, the overall environment was very conducive, well maintained, and clean. The surrounding area is neat and clearly a prime location.

The pool uses river water and was well maintained; when we arrived, staff were actively cleaning it. I cannot comment on the availability of lifeguards, as we came with our own.

They also have a shop with friendly stuff

Overall, everything appeared to be in good condition, and the experience was positive

When we booked we were not advised that the pools would be empty due to cleaning them. It took from Tuesday to Friday to refill and complete the task
We had booked from Tuesday to Thursday. After complaining to Management we were offered a free stay on the Sunday night which meant we would have to pay and stay for an extra 2 days. Very clever on their part. We were also not advised when camping in a tent that your tent has to be placed on the cement slab on your site. Even though we had 2 mattreses one sponge and one inflatable , the cold from the cement slab came through the mattresses and was not pleasant due to spine problems as the weather turned cold each night, plus rained the first night . It's a beautiful resort during the week it's great but weekends overcrowded and becomes a totally different resort. I think they allow too many day visitors on weekends and there is then not a single place to sit near the pools. It needs to be more controlled. We left 2 days early as the weekend was totally overcrowded and everyone was on top of each other. Sad to say our stay was ruined. Chalets to rent were astronomical prices.

We camped there over New Years. The resort is well kept, strict rules that keep the standard of the Resort high, great entertainment, toilets, shower, laundry and where you wash dishes were always clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful

Been in Cape town for 55 years and never came to de Hollandse he Molen till now, I was pleasantly surprised how well run and maintained the resort is. The bathrooms for the campers are very clean. Will be back again.
