Berg River Resort

My family and I recently spent 3 wonderful nights at Berg River Resort, and it was truly a great experience from start to finish.

Our unit had two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and lounge area — everything we needed for a comfortable stay. While the interiors are a little dated, the house was clean, well-equipped, and perfectly sufficient for a relaxing family getaway. We really appreciated having all the essentials readily available.

The entire resort is exceptionally well maintained and spotless. You can see the care that goes into keeping the grounds neat and welcoming.

What really stood out for us was how family-friendly the resort is. There are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, which made it easy for us as parents to relax and enjoy the break as well.

Overall, it was a lovely stay, and we would absolutely recommend Berg River Resort to families looking for a clean, safe, and enjoyable getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

We loved every moment. Very safe. Just me and my son went camping. Tube hire cost is a bit ridiculous to me but other than that we had a wonderful time. Lots to do and beautiful surroundings.

Nice experience with family. Many activities to choose from and keep the kids busy. Pools must be maintained daily was a little hazy before it was cleaned the first few days of our stay. Berg river with its cold water, was the highlight of our vacation. Wonderful. Putt-putt was enjoyable, little paint brush will be nice.
A-Block camping area could do with a little more grass patches. Toilet facilities and shower facilities needs an upgrade, its not the best of hygiene.
Ladies showers not cleaned regularly. Overall the other Blocks was well maintained.
We take the good with the bad in good faith.

Our family had so much fun. Loved that us moms could get tubes and relax in the river while the kids enjoyed the pool. All of us enjoyed the super tube. That pool is a little too shallow.
All in all we had a great day.

Vendors had some interesting goods on sale.

Loved that we could braai there, no alcohol allowed and no loud music.
Parking is pricey considering everyone iver 3 is already R150

Upon arrival, my experience started off on the wrong foot. The two receptionists were very unwelcoming and looked at me as if I didn’t belong there until they realised I was actually a guest. Only then did they greet me, but even so, their attitude didn’t improve much.

Although the environment itself was slightly peaceful, I didn’t really enjoy my stay. I spent a few days there in October, and it’s clear that things have changed over the years — unfortunately not for the better. For what they charge, the resort feels overpriced.

The chalet appeared clean at first glance, but once inside, it became obvious that the cleanliness was only surface‑level. The shower was dirty, the kitchen tiles were greasy and I even found tiny roaches on the crockery. They also have set geyser times, which I found quite strange and inconvenient. Fortunately, I had brought my own items for halaal purposes, but even then I couldn’t use my own pan because the induction stove only works with their pots and pans.

What stood out most was how fixated the resort seems to be on enforcing fines — whether it’s for not using their cookware or for breaking the “no noise” rule — instead of focusing on creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for guests. Overall, the stay felt more stressful than relaxing and definitely not worth the price.
