Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway is a premium nature retreat tucked away in a breathtakingly beautiful valley near Rawsonville. Each site is equipped with an electrical point and a braai facility, and the clean, well-maintained ablution blocks ensure a comfortable stay. While the camping is fantastic, the farm is also renowned for its luxurious self-catering cottages, many of which feature private wood-fired hot tubs for an unforgettable evening under the stars.

The Holsloot River is the main attraction, and for good reason. Its cool, clear water is perfect for swimming and tubing, providing endless fun on hot summer days. Absolutely gorgeous spot cannot fault the location.
The cottages were nice and the air-con was helpful we stayed in Tant Sarie which was very nice and felt private.

Cons:
If you’re here for TROUT fishing then this is NOT the place even though the name suggests it.

Very noisy by the cottages I'm sure the campsites would be a bit more tranquil we do understand that its a working farm but being woken up by land mover trucks in the morning wasn’t the best experience.

Would recommend this place any-day one of the best getaway locations I've been to will be back soon for camping !

A wonderful 3 nights on campsite 7. Beautiful views, refreshing river, rustic but adequate ablutions and delicious meal at the restaurant.
Constructive criticism ...... it would have been nice if the slab had been swept before arrival and if the braai coals were removed daily. The stairs and stair rail to the ablution need attention. But, all in all, a great stay.

We Camped, Campsite 11. This was the best camping experience! There are private ablutions having 2 toilets, 2 showers, 2 hand basins and a double kitchen sink for the washing of dishes. The hot water was gas and worked well. The campsite has a large open metal awning with a cement floor. We slept all 3 nights under the awning on our stretcher beds and we never even opened our rooftop tent. It was wonderful. (late March) there is a raised half drum for braaiing and a circular cement ring for a fire pit. The entire campsite is green lawn and fantastic to walk on. There are 2 shady trees. We sat looking over the stream in front of the site at the magnificent mountain. We heard the distant barking of baboons and the incredible birdlife. The little birds walked within a foot of us, unworried of our presence. They loved the crumbs we gave them and other little crumbs. This is truly 5 star camping and having Electricity was an added bonus!! You are completely away from other campsites, we never heard or saw people. An idyllic holiday and we will be going back several times in the future.

Fantastic podhouse extremely well equipped, brilliant views to the mountains. We joined family who were camping at one of the sites. Stayed in the Oom Ed lodge in January. Beautiful location, beautiful lodge but not very well maintained. Electrocuted by one of the bedside lamps that looked like it was from the 1970’s … I’m all for a ‘rustic’ or ‘authentic’ look but good maintenance is essential. Reported to reception who were understandably apologetic, I just hope they have acted on this and improved maintenance practices. Apart from this we had lovely stay. Might stay again although a little jaded by the electrocution … not developed any super powers yet a result 😉
