Our stay was absolutely lovely. We loved the white linen and pillows. When you come out of the glamping tent, you have the most amazing lush green massive trees in front of you.
We loved the nature that surrounded us.
The shower water pressure could have been a little harder. The swimming pools were a God send for the stunning hot days that we had.
It was our first time glamping vs. Camping and we will definitely do it again.

Decent camp site. Each plot has an ablution for privacy. I would recommend booking plots 1-10. The ground is full grass whereas the higher numbered plots like Plot 13 is fully soft sand, and without good supports, our tent didn't survive the wind.

Slanghoek Mountain Resort - A Week in Paradise

Tucked away in the stunning Slanghoek Valley, our week-long glamping adventure at Slanghoek Mountain Resort became more than just a holiday—it transformed into a soul-restoring escape from the chaos of everyday life.

Our safari tent was pure luxury disguised as wilderness living. Fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, and every piece of cutlery we could possibly need, it proved that comfort and nature can coexist beautifully. Nestled beneath ancient oak trees, we felt embraced by the natural world from the moment we arrived.

Each morning, I woke to a symphony of birdsong that no alarm clock could replicate. Sitting on our little front stoop with morning coffee, breathing in the fresh scent of watered garden plants, I found the peace I didn't realize I'd been craving. This place has a magical way of making you switch off completely and simply exist in the moment.

The daily service—fresh towels and emptied bins—added unexpected comfort without disrupting our connection to nature. Evening fires at our personal fire pit became our ritual, where the profound quiet invited reflection and meaningful conversation about life.

With putt-putt, hiking trails, and two swimming pools, there was always something to do, yet never pressure to be anywhere. The on-site shop saved us more than once with forgotten essentials.

We stayed in one of the Platbos chalets.

What an awesome experience. The chalet was exceptionally clean and fully equipped with high quality everything. The dam is crystal clear and there are lots of bass of a good size, even caught some from the verandah. The views are breathtaking !!! One of the best weekend stays we've ever had.

Just a note to those wanting to watch TV etc. There is no tv nor power other than some solar for lighting and phone charging, exactly what we wanted. The lighting is very good though and cooking and water heating is via gas.

Stayed at Slanghoek over the weekend, it was really beautifull. We were quite a large group of people, the camp sites itself was really nice. The pools are nice. Very nice for kids.
However, the ONLY thing that will make us hesitate to return would be the flies. There were so many!!! Not even because of any food that was out, even with no food out they are just everywhere!! We had peacefull sleep which worked for a few minutes, but also not really. Very nice place. Appart from the flies.
Just something to note, you are not allowed to play any music (seems like the people managing the place are a bunch of nuns) The ablution block was super basic. Have been to several other camping sites with very very nice ablution blocks - this was definitly not it. Water pressure was bad throughout the weekend.
Maybe an idea, invest in some sun loungers next to the pool area where one can lay - the grass has thorns.
