Silwerstrand River Resort

We had a fantastic stay and loved every minute, there was a cancellation which meant we could get a stand with a view of the river - just incredible! The resort is clean and neat, my husband could rent a kayak and go fishing and my 2 year old loved the pool and play ground! Ashton and Montagu is a quick drive away, both lovely towns to explore! The staff was friendly and helpful and always available. We will definitely be back! ❤️ Snymans

we booked a house/cabin and was told it's booked out. Day 1 we realised a chalet was empty. Management did not inform us of this knowing we wanted a chalet. I eventually requested we move from the caravan to the chalet as initially requested to which the lady in the office advised they can move me for an additional R1400 over and above what I have paid. So I would pay for 2 nights in the caravan , even though I'm not staying there, and pay for the chalet and on top of that I am sure the people who booked and cancelled lost their deposit. This was shocking customer service and unethical. If they were concerned about treating customers fairly I would have really enjoyed the stay

The resort is clean. A pity that you cannot choose your camping site. The staff at reception allocates your stand and although there are stands open down river with much better views the stands across the construction works are being allocated.

We went with friends to SilverStrand, where they took our deposit for the booking. I will pay the remaining balance upon arrival.

Upon arrival, we were informed that the balance and deposit for the remotes was required, and we were unable to pay the remaining balance with a card.

In today's digital age, cashless transactions are the norm, and it's curious that the establishment insisted on this payment method. This might be perceived as a form of tax evasion, though it's just my personal viewpoint.

With a rather unpleasant experience at the reception. I am uncertain if the individual in question was the owner or a manager, but it was certainly a memorable encounter.

It was such an unpleasant experience that my friends had to convince me to stay, but I will never return.

Additionally, my wife and her friend returned to procure additional toilet paper, as the camp only provides it once a day, and the facility was at capacity.

Additionally, the staff did not clean the bin, which I found to be unacceptable. The rules at the resort were very strict, and it felt like I was back in boarding school.

If I were the owner of the resort, I would certainly hire someone with a more vibrant personality, as I believe she has lost hers over the years.

We stayed in a "hut" (house). Everything in the hut and the resort was clean and well looked after. We were there during the festive period and all the surrounding camps and huts had Christmas lights and decor, which made for a very festive atmosphere.
The resort is well run by the caretakers, with lots of rules. The only tip I would give them, is for reception staff/ care taker to work on EQ and be more friendly, welcoming and open.

UPDATE: The owner phoned us to find out how they can improve, which is always a good sign.
