Forever Resorts Loskop Dam

We recently went fishing at Loskop Forever Resort and had a good overall stay, but with a few important caveats.

Unfortunately, the dam was experiencing a severe algal bloom at the time. While this is clearly not the resort’s fault, it was extremely disappointing to see the state of the water. The level of pollution points to serious wastewater management failures upstream, and it’s frustrating that municipalities are allowed to let things deteriorate to this extent. Hopefully the dam recovers soon, as it’s a special place when conditions are right.

That said, the resort itself was pleasant as always and we genuinely enjoyed our time there. The facilities and surroundings are still well maintained, and the atmosphere was relaxed.

My only real criticism relates to the log cabins. For the price, they felt quite run-down and in need of refurbishment. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t choose the cabins again and would rather camp in future, which I think offers better value.

Overall, a nice stay, but the water quality and accommodation condition are worth considering before booking.

Very disappointed with the quality of the dam water. It is vrot to say the least. Used to be a beautiful dam with clear, clean water. Now it is green and stinks of sewage.
We took visitors from Australia in December 2025 to show and share with them the beautiful dam that we had been boasting about. How embarrassing and disappointing.
We took our boat and even then, couldn't find clean water. Every spot that we stopped at stank too much to stay a while and fish.
We were regular visitors, several times a year but won't be visiting again until the dam is cleaned up. SIS!

Beautiful dam with multiple boat launch areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean ablutions with hot showers. Lovely pools and play areas for kids. Well-stocked shop. Very relaxing next to the dam.
