⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Experience at Thaba Monate Game Lodge

The reception and welcome were truly 5-star. After seeing the lodge, we were so impressed that we booked an extra two nights and ended up staying for four nights in total.

The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The pools are super clean, and the small shop on the premises stocks all the basics such as firewood, drinks, and sweets, which is very convenient.

I went trail running on their trails, and what an experience it was! I came across waterfalls, dams, small rivers, a waterbuck, breathtaking views, varied terrain, and marsh areas. I would definitely recommend Thaba Monate to all hikers and trail runners.

The zipline is a great add-on and offers beautiful views of the lodge. The hanging bridge over part of the river is an experience on its own and also serves as a handy shortcut from some of the chalets to the pools.

We also did a 4x4 off-road drive—there were a few scary moments, but it’s an absolute must for off-road enthusiasts. The route takes you through a small river, over the mountain, and across rocky terrain with stunning scenic views.

The chalet we stayed in was absolutely stunning, with a modern design and beautiful décor. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the air fryer was a real bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed the braai area and sitting outside with a 180-degree view. The chalet was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained.

The owners, Hannes and Max, were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. They have made great improvements to the lodge and are currently busy renovating all the cabins.

Thaba Monate has so much potential! The staff are super friendly, and the infrastructure is great. The adventure activities are also on point! 👍

However, our stay was marred by some major issues with the bedding. The bunk beds had bed bugs and the linen was dusty and looked like it hadn't been changed in weeks. We ended up having to share a bed because the other beds were unusable.

A thorough clean and fumigation would work wonders! With some TLC on the bedding, this place could be a real gem. 😊

While the infrastructure and adventure activities were lovely, the accommodation fell short of expectations. The bunk beds were in dire need of attention - spider webs and dust made them unusable, and we ended up having to share a bed with 3 people. Unfortunately, this forced us to cut our stay short. Not a good experience at all.

To truly deliver on the experience, we strongly suggest investing in new linen, mattresses, and a thorough fumigation. Rentokill could help with the pest control. With some TLC on the bedding, this place could truly shine! 😊

Thaba Monate is amaizingly beautiful 🤩. The scenery is stunning, and it's clear why people fall in love with this place! However, there's a tiny issue - bed bugs 😬. Please, for the love of sleep, fix the bed bugs and give the place a good clean 🙏. I'd love to come back and have a great day, followed by a peaceful night's sleep 😴. Bring on the bug spray and fresh linen, and I'm all in! Paint will also do .give the bedrooms a modern look.

A truly beautiful resort.
With app 33 chalets a huge negative is the absence of a kiosk selling essentials like i.e. water; cooldrink; ice; bread. Its a pity that it is not stated that this is not at all available.
Accomodation is lovely and clean and comfortable.
