Description

Located in the stunningly beautiful Waterberg region of the Limpopo province at an altitude similar to Johannesburg, Matamba has one of the best climates in the world, with mild winters and temperate summers it can be visited all year round. With easy access from Johannesburg and Pretoria (only 2,5 hours drive). Just off the R33 between Vaalwater and Lephalale, Matamba is an ideal weekend getaway or stop over on the way to Botswana.

Tau camp has five individual campsites: Francolin, Hornbill, Drongo, Oriole and Kingfisher. All sites are 150 to 200 metres apart so are very private. Each site can accommodate either a couple or several families from the same group.

Mara’s camp is our private and exclusive campsite which can only be booked and accessed by one group at a time. It’s situated in the middle of the farm in a beautiful thick woodland with lovely tall shady trees.

Weaver camp (overnight) is a secluded campsite surrounded by large Wild Seringa and Bush Willow trees, it’s been specifically set up for our overnight guests. Like all of our sites, it has no fences so blends beautifully into the surrounding bush. Matamba’s wildlife are constantly in and around the site, creating the perfect camping experience.

Such an incredible place for camping! Really reasonable pricing for huge private campgrounds surrounded by animals and beautiful views, super friendly staff with ice and firewood available for delivery whenever you need it, and the most beautiful open air bathrooms for a luxurious bush experience. 10/10 recommend!

Matamba is a awesome camp sites for someone who wants to be in the bush away frome other campers. There are 5 camp sites near the pool. The ablutions are amazing. Camp Mara is secluded, probably a 30 min walk away from the other camps. Its near a hide and small dam. The bush is so beautiful and brings back memories of family holidays in Zims. Thank you Carol

Expect a very wild stay in the bush at this place. Semi-offgrid camping at its finest. Bathrooms are very clean and embracing of the environment around them. Sites are decently spaced to ensure privacy and the small pool is a very welcome addition in summer. Enjoy long walks in the bush on one of the many trails offered in the reserve, but beware, we encountered many critters like snakes and scorpions (almost stepping on a camouflaged Puff Adder on one of the trails), so keep your wits about you.
The bird hide is also an amazing little gem

Lovely private campsites with the best ablution facilities you could hope for - private outdoor shower (under a tree), basin and loo. Lots of birds and game and great walking trails. Power and water at each site. Wood delivered by request.
