Nylstroom Lodge

We recently spent a wonderful weekend at Nylstroom Holiday Resort and had a lovely stay in one of the chalets. The resort may be rustic and a bit older, but it has its own unique charm that makes it a delightful escape from the everyday hustle. The chalet was comfortable and well-kept, offering a cozy atmosphere.

A special mention goes to Simone, whose warm hospitality made us feel right at home. We also booked a breakfast, and despite our specific dietary requirements, the meal was prepared perfectly, a real highlight of our stay.

I’ve read other reviews mentioning minor issues, but I think some guests might have had unrealistic 5-star expectations. This is not a luxury lodge, but rather a quaint, charming retreat that offers a peaceful break in nature. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Please do not waste your money to visit. Rooms are filthy.
Bedding was not washed in a while. The place is literally falling apart. No access control. Anyone can just walk or drive in. I have not seen such a filthy bathroom in my life.
There were ants everywhere, even in the beds. We were booked for 5 nights and left after one.
The food presented was revolting, and the could not eat it. It was unfit for human consumption
Sewerage was overflowing.
The manager and owner just shrugged complaints off.
The lodge insisted that the full account for the full stay had to be settled for our school group weeks before the visit and no hope for a refund now.

A definite yes, for our next trip down memory lane... Beautiful views. Kids were constantly busy swimming, exploring, a fantastic breakaway for a single parent, or a family of ten lol, lots of fun to be had, even with your furry friend running around, not knowing where to look first, so much to see, chalets were neat and ample space, linen as always, clean, your team is one of the best, never even had the need for the TV, you go on holiday to get away from every day life, you have nature all around you, the beautiful long hot days with the dog Bullet playing in the pool, is all the entertainment you need, from the hiking, to the Jacuzzi and chasing children and dogs, not to mention the infamous Pumba, reunited for the weekend, did the world of good for the whole family. Braaing under the beautiful night sky, millions of stars, loved ones close by, falling asleep was as easy as riding a bike, waking early with a cup of coffee in hand, just taking in the beauty, when out of nowhere you hear the pounding of hooves, the pounding of you heart when you see a herd of golden zebra, not memories easily forgotten, thank you Johan, without your vision, drive and determination, it would not have been possible for our weekend to end so magically.

My son was booked in there while competing for Sa school shooting championships. It seems that there are chalets and chalets. He could barely eat the food on the first night and didn't have much sleep as he had to share his bed with termites and soil Chalet no 12 where the cupboard on the left next to the door is a termite nest. The shower had mould on the floors.I had to drive from Pretoria, put in leave and book at anther venue, loosing everything that we have paid upfront. I shall not send my dogs to stay in that chalet. Hope you spend the money taken from many scholars on something good. Once bitten twice shy. Never again.

Terrible place, the pictures on the website is misleading and not at all what you get. Food was catered for but was Terrible and substandaard. Units was insect infested, bedding was dirty and not washed in a long time. General condition of the lodging was dreadful and extremely dirty. Lodging is better suitable for animals than humans. Zero access control. Anyone can walk in and out of the property. Dirt road for 4.5km from main road. I will not recommend anyone waste their money and stay here.
