Description

Tucked away on the forested shores of Groenvlei, this well-shaded resort holds a unique position as the only holiday destination on the Garden Route's only natural freshwater lake. Situated halfway between the popular towns of Wilderness and Knysna, it offers a true sanctuary for nature lovers. The resort is enveloped by protected wilderness; it shares a border with the vast Goukamma Nature Reserve and falls within the greater Garden Route National Park, ensuring a stay here feels genuinely removed from the hustle and bustle.

For those who love to camp, the resort offers 55 spacious and level sites, beautifully maintained with lush lawns. You have the flexibility to choose your ideal spot, whether you prefer the deep shade of mature trees, a site with partial sun, or a brighter spot for the cooler months. Each campsite is serviced with an electrical point, and fresh water taps are conveniently located throughout the park.

Comfort and cleanliness are clearly a priority here. The large, modern ablution blocks are kept impeccably clean and provide a reliable supply of hot water for everyone. Practical needs are also well catered for with two sculleries for washing up and a dedicated laundry area. In a welcome gesture for travellers, the on-site washing machines are available for guests to use free of charge. In addition to the campsites, a selection of fully-equipped, self-catering cottages and lodges are available for hire.

Please note that if you wish to bring a canine companion, small dogs may be permitted by prior arrangement only, and are not accepted during peak holiday seasons.

5 stars all around! When I started looking for a place to camp in the Garden Route, I contacted many places, and I am SO happy that Lake Pleasant was the first to respond. The sites are much bigger than most others I have seen in the area. The resort has beautiful grass, huge trees for enough shade and lots of birds. The ablution facilities are cleaned throughout the day and even when the resort was full in December, it never felt overcrowded. The on-site shop has necessities and the pub is a bonus! It is a short drive to Buffels Bay, but for the most beautiful sunsets you can just drive (or walk/jog if you want to) 3km to an unspoilt beach in a protected area. Stuart and his team are extremely helpful and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and unforgettable. When we go camping in the area again, we will not even consider going anywhere else. Thank you for making our holiday a great one, Stuart!

We came to Lake Pleasant Caravan Park, but found a resort within the Garden Route.
The camp sites are clean and well maintained.
The ablution block is clean with day shift personnel permanently on duty to attend to the amenities.
The resort have free wi-fi, washing mashines, a token tumble drier, a tennis court, squash court, trampoline, clean swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzy with complimentary fire wood (for the jacuzzy), electrical outlets and water taps on the camp sites as well as rowing boats and 2 seater canoes with oars and life jackets available to the guests.

On the premises there is a Sports Pub called Legends, with good food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. (Well managed family bussiness that is an asset to the resort and campers).

The management and staff of the resort is helpfull, and friendly. There are security personnel that patrol the resort on foot at night. During the day the resort is patroled by Guineafowls and Egyptian geese as well as an abundant bird life in all the shade trees. Owl can also be heard in the trees at knight.

Misbehaving and entitled guests are dealt with firmly by the management.

I cme for a month, but extended my stay and I strongly recommend the resort that caters for young and old with nearby activities like fishing, swimming, rowing, hiking trails nearby, mountain biking, tennis and squash.

I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to the owner/s of the resort whom understand the consept of hospitality.

Lovely place to stay at. Clean rooms, great service. Security. Did not need for anything in chalets, it has it all. Best part is the friendly family atmosphere and relaxing trees with so many birds around. Lovely fishing spots too. Resturant within walking distance very convenient...

Absolutely love everything about the resort!
Tranquil camp, ample bird life, clean ablutions, friendly staff, and of course Neira is just adorable!
Thankful to management & fellow lankstaaners for accepting & allowing our precious Nina.
Legends, the on-site sports pub is a winner & great asset with affordable delicious meals, run by a fantastic family management team.
We loved our extended stay.
