We loved that place, very quiet and extremely well cleaned houses, not a spiderweb or spec of dust, even under outside roofs. Digital Detox if you are with MTN, very weak connection with CellC. Perfect to switch off!

It was my 1st time to visit Dullstroom, and I will surely come back. Not so much to focus on trying to catch trout, but just to relax, and braai. The highlight of our trip was the hiking trail. Remember to take a map available from the hall, as it is easy to get lost. Getting lost, was adding to the exitement because we had to think and use our own navigation skills. That forced us to notice the beauty of the landscape. There was not 2 but 3 waterfalls, because the heavy rain washed the man-made bridge away. It took us 6 hours to complete the 5 km trail.
If you plan to catch trout, be aware, its not easy. Do research about the best time of the year and day. Also the type of lure, and the colour is important. I did not catch anything over 2 days, exept a small kirper, and no one else there caught any as well, as far as I was aware. Also go slow on the 3 km dirt road, as its a bit bumpy. But I will definitely be back, with trout catching skills and a 4x4

A good bunch of people. I always catch whether summer or winter. A lekker working farm vibe with terrific scenery. The donkeys are real characters and the sheep just make it peaceful in a background noisy way. Good value for money.

I have been going to Elandskloof regarlarly since1975 as a youngster and was introduced to fly fishing by oom Dolf Combrinck. Nothing more to say other than that I got hooked. We used the camping sites and bungalows at the time. Although those years it was really basics but had some really great times. Did not always catch trout, but that was part of fly fishing. Trout fishing is testing your patience and skills as these little guys are elusive. Can't go any more as age has caught up with me. Want to thank the Combrink family, including Celeste of the fond memories.
