Mbizi Game Lodge

We had a fantastic stay at Mbizi, we had a private bathroom stand for a week, it was a very comfortable stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival we had 2 very nice gentleman meeting us at our stand in 20 minutes our whole campsite was up. The staff in the shop, bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Management staff greeted us every morning, all staff made our stay very pleasant. I would really recommend going to Mbizi

The overall feel is amazing. Being in the bush. The chalet we stayed in was perfectly positioned for quiet solitude (unit 10). Only negatives is the unit is "tired" and needs some serious TLC. The service at the cocktail bar is not great either. The food we had, was great though.

When I originally booked there was some confusion and the response to my emails where delayed however checking in on the day was easy and we found the staff to be friendly.
I must admit we were disappointed with the site allocated to us as it was a "open ablution" and this is definitely not what we thought we had booked and we were not informed of this at the time of booking. Over and above our ablutions were not clean and the basin had a leak. We had reported this the day after arrival as we had discovered the leak at night and management sorted out everything immediately which was impressive.
We did find the stands to be on the small side.
The pools both indoor at outdoor are clean and there is a nice play area for children which is well kept.
There is a small shop which is well stocked and a restaurant for your convenience.

I recommend this lodge for its leisurely and comfortable suites. The atmosphere was so relaxing, making it easy to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall pleasant experience

The walks, game drives, and wildlife viewing on your doorstep made it an overall excellent experience.

I really should have checked the reviews first - but having read them now I can verify that much of what is said is true. We camped in March 24, and on booking requested a shady site. Very unhelpful response: “I sit in the office all day, I don’t know which sites are shady”. Booked anyway, and was welcomed with an indemnity form with so many errors it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on. Ended up on a site with zero shade, even though there are many shaded sides. Our first night, one site kept music and being loud till after 3am. Then from 10am loud music blaring all day from the pool area. We were also charged an additional R250 for “kids entertainment” that was highly average. Also worth nothing that if you’re English speaking this is definitely not the place for you. We paid for entertainment my kids couldn’t enjoy because they couldn’t understand the instructions. We bought eggs at the shop, that were off, and instead of getting a refund they insisting they replace them with ‘fresh eggs’.

The facilities have potential (pools were clean, grass mowed at most places etc) but this camp site will definitely go under our “Too common” list.
