Description

Step into the heart of South Africa's most storied landscapes at Kwa-Rie Resort. Perfectly positioned in Dundee, this tranquil retreat serves as the ideal gateway to the historic KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields. Its central location, midway between Newcastle and Ladysmith, makes it an incredibly convenient base from which to explore the hallowed grounds of Isandlwana, Rorke's Drift, and other significant sites. The resort offers a peaceful sanctuary, a place where you can spend your days immersed in the region's poignant history and return to a quiet, comfortable haven in the evening to reflect and unwind.

The resort offers an intimate and well-maintained camping area, ensuring a personal and uncrowded atmosphere. With a limited number of level sites laid out on seasonal grass, the park feels spacious and relaxed. To help preserve this pleasant environment, guests are kindly asked to use a net ground sheet. The campsites are shaded by a smattering of trees, and each one is thoughtfully equipped with its own power point and a convenient water tap located on or near the site. Every stand also features its own braai facility, ready for you to bring your own grid and cook up a feast under the vast African sky.

Supporting your stay are clean and comfortable communal ablutions, providing all the simple but essential comforts of hot-water showers, basins, and flushing toilets. A dedicated scullery for washing dishes and available laundry facilities add a layer of convenience, especially for those on a longer tour of the region. Kwa-Rie Lodge offers a lovely, well-laid-out campground with generous spaces that never feel crowded. The ablution facilities are neat, well maintained, and cleaned daily. The peaceful dam is a real highlight, attracting beautiful birdlife, and seeing rabbits hopping around the grounds adds to the relaxed, natural atmosphere.

The owners are friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help, which makes you feel safe and at home from the moment you arrive. For those who prefer not to camp, there are also comfortable chalets available.

There is plenty to explore in the surrounding area, making it a great base for outings, yet it is also the perfect place to simply slow down, unwind, and enjoy the tranquility. Kwa-Rie Lodge is a safe, peaceful destination and an ideal getaway when you truly want to relax and recharge.

We parked our motorhome overlooking the beautiful dam in the well kept caravan park. The bird life is plentiful which kept us entertained for hours.
The ablutions are basic but functional and spotlessly clean.
It is centrally situated in the town of Dundee. Ideal stay for battlefield tours.
Also the Dundee County Club Restaurant which serves tasty meals is only 200 metres down the road.

Now here is a place I will certainly recommend. I rate it as one of the best caravan and camping sites I have been to. The ablutions were immaculate, with more than sufficient water pressure, and everything worked. The location is ideal for those who want to explore the battlefields and Talana Museum, or who simply want to kick down and get lazy in a really beautiful and quiet environment. In addition the prices are extremely good value. The site is also very conveniently situated close to the central part of town, so popping around to the local shops to stock up is quick and easy, and there is a beautiful golf course right next door.

The owners must be avid gardeners because the gardens were really beautiful. The dams (with a black swan included) are picturesque. Greg, and employee, was extremely helpful and between him and the owner organized a welder for us and helped repair the broken jockey wheel on our trailer. Thank you so much.

Our site was covered in a thick green carpet of lawn, with a stunning view over the dam. An added bonus for us as dog-less dog-lovers were the regular visits from the owners two dogs who were very affectionate and well behaved. Don't even think about it - just book.

Been there twice this year I really love it the bathrooms swimming pool the place is secure and safe also the owner is such a wonderful lady very welcoming I was going to vryheid from Ladysmith but still chose to stay here since the last tym I had a fantastic tym I drove back from vryheid to stay over here at this place I love it!
