We stayed at Glen Oakes in the Wooden Cabin and it is a little bit of heaven on earth.
If you want quality time with your family or partner, this place is the best!
You can sit by the outside by the braai, the rock pool or inside by the fireplace and listen to nothing but nature, and the sound of your loved one's voice...sublime.
The only visitors we had were the local cows and sheep at our outside gate, and they are so cute.
All kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc are supplied. They also supply tea, coffee, etc. You can also buy wood from them and leave the money there or eft it to them, in case you want to braai or use the fireplace. You will however need to bring your own coal or firefighters.
There is no power, only paraffin lamps and gas cylinders, so if you have little ones that aren't with you send need to check up, I suggest taking a power bank and charge it in your car when out and about.
I misunderstood and read that there is no power, but phones csn be charged. I didn't realise it meant at rhe top house. Julie was absolutely amazing trying to accommodate us and even bought down a power bank at 21h00 shame. Silly of me to assume, and so kind of her to go over and above. We did go out and buy a power bank the next day.
We went in December and at night, folded back all the windows (which completely open up from roof to floor), lit a fire in the fireplace and sat talking and listening to nature, with wine from one of the lovely local farms.
Honestly we found our new favourite place to visit.
Julie was a wonderful host and we will definitely be back!
