Dikgomo Cottages

We recently enjoyed a three-night stay at Dikgomo Cottages and had an absolutely wonderful experience.

The property is truly exceptional for anyone travelling with dogs. The cottage has secure fencing surrounding a large private garden, giving dogs plenty of space to run freely and safely. There is even a crystal-clear doggy pool for them to cool off in ... something my four absolutely loved!

The farm itself is peaceful and beautiful, with Nguni cows roaming nearby (who are very accustomed to dogs). There are well-marked walking trails through the bushveld, abundant birdlife, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. It’s hard to believe such tranquillity exists only about 100km from JHB.

The cottage was spotless, well-equipped, cosy, and fully functional despite being off-grid - with reliable electricity and hot running water at all times.

Pierre, the host, was outstanding. Communication was excellent throughout and he went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, even preparing a thoughtful welcome layout on arrival.

This is far more than simply “dog-friendly” accommodation ... it truly feels designed with dogs in mind. We will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend Dikgomo Cottages to anyone looking for a peaceful escape with their fur-babies.

We spent 7 nights at Dikgomo in the Dairy cottage and it was absolutely wonderful! The cottage is really well-equipped with everything you could need. The garden is spacious and fully fenced, so our furry kids could play and run around safely. Pierre, our first point of contact, provided outstanding customer service – from start to finish he was incredibly friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. There’s also a lovely walking trail where you can take your dogs for a stroll. Dikgomo is about 45 minutes from Pretoria, and it was so special for us to be able to bring our woofies along. We really enjoyed the peaceful quiet and tranquility (and the calls of the Piet my Vrou!). A true getaway!

The Dairy Cottage came highly recommended, yet we did not know what to expect. The cottage is properly fenced, so you can unpack with peace of mind while your fur babies run around. The splash pool was a hit for everyone concerned and the neighbouring dogs were not an issue as our dogs are trained and non-reactive. Accommodation is sufficient, kitchen is appropriately set up. Pierre made sure we had whatever we needed and checked in on a daily basis. Personal touches like the bottle of red and snacks for the dogs, what more can you ask for? I think we have found our pet friendly home away from home.

Wonderful farm getaway. Cottages are well equipped and allow you to relax and enjoy the quiet, taking in beautiful views. The campsites are large and equipped with private kitchenette and bathroom at each site. All accommodation is fully pet friendly with each campsite/cottage fenced in allowing your pet to enjoy the break as much as you.

Very great place but there is a few issues that Dikgomo can attend to. Our dogs loved the yard but cant expect much from a two star.

1. The Dairy farm cottage. The owners fence and dairyfarm fence needs to be closed off totally with a solid bring wall. We had to get our dogs away there on numerous occations.

2. Wifi was not working even the replacement wifi router was under 1mb/s

3. The dubble mattras was so bad we had to make a plan to sleep one night in the living room and next day we went home a day early. Time to replace that old thing I would say.

4. Be ready to shower with a mop in your hand. Water constantly running to the door of the bathroom. Either you mop while shower or slip and fall later.
