Dinokeng Camp and Leisure

Our first time here. We enjoyed our private camp stay and will come again. Only complaint is the hot water geyser water pressure that faded when we showered. We had to turn the water off completely and start over just to get the same results. It was difficult to finish in the shower. The rest was great. Thank you

I stayed at Dinokeng Camp and leisure glamping tent site from 29–31 August 2025 and had an awesome experience!

The glamping tents are very well set up — each comes with its own private toilet and hot shower (with hot water), plus an outdoor sink with utensils. Just note: you’ll need to bring your own dishwashing liquid and sponges. There’s electricity in each tent, a fridge, two beds with clean bedding, as well as a table, chairs, and a braai stand. They also sell wood, firelighters, coal, and ice on-site, which is super convenient.

The place is very clean and peaceful, right in the middle of nature. While we were relaxing, we did get an unexpected visitor — a puff adder snake 😅😭. Luckily, the staff responded very quickly and professionally to remove it, which gave me peace of mind.

The staff were also very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I liked that they even clean the braai stands in the mornings.

There are pools on-site — one outdoor and one heated indoor pool, which is great for all weather. The dam was a bit low, but we still saw animals around it. Fishing isn’t really recommended here for adults, as it’s mainly small fish suitable for catch and release.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable stay. Despite the snake encounter, I would definitely come back again — the comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness of the staff really made the trip special.

Great camping area with fun slides and friendly staff. We visited as a group and had an amazing time, not disappointing at all. I can’t wait for my next visit. Highly recommend for families and groups.

*Positives:* Well-kept grounds, engaging entertainment options for families, and helpful reception staff during business hours.
*Areas for improvement:* Our late-December 2025 stay experienced two separate extended power outages with delayed guest notification (24+ hours for initial outage), making it difficult to manage with elderly and toddler family members. On December 30th, we returned to our accommodation at 11pm to discover unauthorised access to both tents with personal items disturbed - a deeply unsettling experience.
When raised with management, these operational and security issues were acknowledged but not remediated, which was disappointing given the impact on our stay. The owner did communicate on 31 December that the security concern is the first in the 9 years, though did not make anyone sleep easier on the night that it happened. The power outage was due to a burnt cable and isolated to the 5 tents, ironically/Murphy’s Law that those opting for a provisioned tented accommodation in view of not having extensive camping kit, ended up without hot water and electricity.
The foundation is there - the property and daytime experience show promise. However, emergency response systems, guest communication protocols, and management follow-through need development before this becomes a reliable choice for family holidays.

Very friendly service. Nice big bathroom in Chalet. There is no kitchen in the chalet. You have to use a communal kitchen. Which is not nice. If you book a chalet, you don't want to feel like you are camping. There is also a big problem with the power. It is so week I couldn't use my breast pump to feed my baby. I had to plug it in, in the car to express. Even your phone charges at a snails pace. The stove plate in the kitchen takes forever to cook an egg probably also due to this problem.

Besides that we had a pleasant stay. The animals in the camp come to visit and it really makes the stay worth while.
