The stands are not formally marked out, meaning you are free to explore the grounds and set up your camp in the spot that most pleases you. A generous number of electricity and light stands are available, as well as classic braai drums, easily catering to a good number of caravans and tents. For added convenience, campers are welcome to use a communal kitchen with basic facilities, perfect for preparing a quick meal after a long day's drive.

While relaxation is a top priority, the reserve is also a world of family fun and gentle adventure. This is a hidden gem in the arrid Karoo. An oasis for the soul and body alike. Only 7 kms from the town, on tar roads, and a short piece of good gravel road. This place is accessible to all vehicles.
The camp is beautiful, set on a working farm, with abundant bird life, as well as, goats, huge tortoise, ducks, and chickens. A nice pool, and very clean, rustic ablution which was only a pleasure to use. This is a must visit when traveling through Beaufort West. Oh, and there is a shop on site that will cater to most of your needs. You can even request them to prepare meals for you, I think that's the cherry on top.
I'll definitely be back.

Our choice for over nighting. A charm of a camping site. Super clean ablutions with very hot water and good pressure. We only stayed one night but you could stay longer. Many shaded stands and semi grassed.

We had a stop over at Steenbokkie on our way to Gauteng. This visit was magical from the moment we arrived. Friendly greetings from staff and the host. The room are so special. Braai pack absolutely wonderful and what would a braai be without a braaibroodjie. We will visit again

A Hidden Gem in the Karoo: Steenbokkie Private Game Reserve 😍

Our recent stay at Steenbokkie Private Game Reserve was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the heart of the Karoo (Beaufort-Wes), this reserve offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We stayed in the Garden Cottage, which was not only beautiful but also well-equipped with all the amenities we needed. The attention to detail in the cottage made our stay incredibly comfortable and enjoyable.

The staff at Steenbokkie were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to feed the baby "black" sheep 🐑, a delightful experience that added a special touch to our stay 🤗

Steenbokkie comes highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the Karoo. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Cape Town 😉
