Situated on a beautiful farm on the banks of the Slang River, at the very beginning of the Garden Route, it’s a place designed for the adventurous spirit. As the hosts honestly and proudly state, it is not a destination for the faint-hearted.

The journey to the camp is part of the adventure. Due to the rugged farm roads and the type of terrain, this is a destination that cannot easily accommodate normal motorcars or traditional caravans. It’s a place best reached by those with 4x4s, bakkies, and off-road trailers, a natural filter that ensures your fellow campers are like-minded adventurers who appreciate the wild. The experience is intentionally and beautifully off-grid, with no electricity to spoil the natural ambiance and no cellphone reception in the camp itself.

The heart of the camp is a magnificent, oval wooden lapa with a large fireplace and braai area, providing the perfect, sheltered social hub for your group. The ablution facilities are a charming, thatched-roof wooden hut, offering the simple but profound luxuries of fresh drinking water, two hot showers, and two flush toilets. For larger groups, a separate ablution block with a classic donkey geyser is also available. It is this unwavering commitment to an authentic, rugged, and deeply peaceful bush experience that makes Nona Rosa a truly special and sought-after destination.

We were camping while there was a group of 30 students camping at the farm. The first night they were disobeying the first rule "Please respect the other campers" by making a lot of noise (which included shouting crude words at other campers, kindly asking them to quite down) until 2 am in the morning. We asked the owner to please chat to this group, which he did in a very respectful way. The following night, they didn't act upon the owner's request and even made more noise and stayed up late. The rest of the campers on the site was ready to pack up and leave the following day, but luckily the owner stepped in and kindly asked the students to leave, since this campsite is meant to be tranquil and quite.

Thank you so much Cecil for honoring the values and purpose of your campsite. We loved every second after you came and saved the day to restore the tranquility! Will definitely be back

Wow! What a lovely stay! We did a great hike on the farm and saw beautiful kudu, flowers and an amazing view. The bathrooms were clean and the water nice and hot for a shower. The communal area is well equipped, we really enjoyed our weekend at Nona Rosa. Will be back soon!

Excellent place. Clean bathroom, hot gas showers, running water while still giving that sense of bush camping. A nature lovers paradise with no noise nor light pollution - reminds me of our family farm in Namibia. Thank you Cecil for allowing guests on this beautiful piece of land. Please respect the rules and put aside any entitlement you may feel.

Extremely tidy campsite, although it seems like wild camping because you are so far away from everything. The canola fields are really beautiful..curving and waving with the contours.

Had such peace and quiet, lots of bird life, and the camp site is clean, open, and nestled in a valley far away from any other forms of human life - just what we were looking for.
