Description

On the banks of the Berg River near Velddrif lies Kuifkopvisvanger, a peaceful farm retreat named for the vibrant Malachite Kingfisher. The name is no accident; it was inspired by one of these striking birds that appeared during the farm's development, and the theme continues today. Went camping at this fantastic camping site, 21st to 24th of October 2025.
Amazing place. Ablutions is clean and hygienic.
Power points and water for Caravans is very accessible.
Wow what an experience!!
Malani and family keep up this great facility.
To mention, is that is a pet friendly area. There was such alot of pets, and it was really pleasant to see the animals interacting with the campers.

The owner was super welcoming and hospitable towards my group of 3 birders, responding quickly to our inquiries via WhatsApp and providing pinpoint accuracy for our targets (i.e., Western Barn Owl, Spotted Eagle-Owl, and Pied Barbet). We can't recommend this place enough; it is a birder's paradise!

Booked a campsite for a fishing weekend with some mates and had a great weekend.
Although the sites are in need of some TLC, its a cool campsite, right on the river.
We were a little unfortunate to have been there on a weekend that a 50th birthday bash was taking place and some of the party goers decided to make a noise with music and loud talking til 2 in the morning. That would be my only complaint.
Toilets are clean enough, showers run strong and hard. Electrical power and water points at each site, with large dustbins for all the trash.
I would love to give 5 stars, but there really is quite a bit of maintenance required throughout the campsite.

Clean toilets and showers. Beautiful place to stay. People are friendly. Not so far away from Veldrift off. Really beautiful when the train passes and just to wake up in the morning with beautiful sun that is coming out and the water.
