De Bakke Santos

Second time camping here and once again we were welcomed by an amazing view and a peaceful atmosphere. The campsite is neat and clean, and the ablution blocks are well maintained and tidy.
The only downside was that the hot water was only lukewarm and the power at the campsite kept tripping, which was a bit inconvenient.
Overall, it was still a very nice stay and a beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. We will definitely consider coming back again for the scenery and cleanliness.

Eish, what a disappointment. After driving for 4 hours, we were really looking forward to our stay. I had specifically booked Chalet 37 (on their website) because of its modern features and the fact that it does not have carpets, as one of my family members has asthma and dust from carpets tend to aggravate his condition.

Upon arrival, however, we were assigned Chalet 33. When I presented proof of my booking for Chalet 37, I was informed that the chalet was already occupied by guests who had supposedly booked it before me. The receptionist took no accountability for the error, and it was rather blamed on a technical glitch on the website.

When I asked whether the chalet we were given was equivalent to what I had paid for, the receptionist assured me that it was — and even claimed it was better. To our surprise, the chalet we were assigned felt VERY outdated, like something from the 90s, and it had carpets, which was exactly what we had tried to avoid.

When I returned to reception to complain, the owner/manager was present, and the story for the receptionist suddenly changed. We were then told that the chalet we were assigned was actually cheaper than Chalet 37 and that we would receive a partial refund. I was given a performative apology and acknowledgement of the error. This left me wondering what explanation we would have been given had the manager not been there.

These people ruined our weekend and tried to gaslight us into thinking what we was assigned was better, when in fact it was not.

We are in the caravan park. Beautiful office staff, you matters. Beautiful sites. Lots of trees and shade. The ablution blocks are neat and tidy. Beautiful sea view. Rates are good 👍😊 Caravan and Tent's on paving, they are busy revamping all the sites.

I travelled 4.5 hours to visit family staying at De Bakke Santos, only to be turned away due to poor communication and inflexible management.

The campsite had already been booked and paid for 8 nights, and the group size had been approved in advance. Despite this, on arrival we were told that only one additional guest was allowed and that no exceptions would be made. This information was never communicated beforehand.

The alternative offered was to book another campsite at a much higher price with a minimum 3-night stay, even though there were empty campsites nearby. This felt unreasonable and unnecessary.

What stood out most was the lack of empathy and professionalism. Staff were dismissive, repeatedly pointed us to the fine print, and made it clear that they do not explain rules to guests. Being turned away after such a long drive, with no effort to accommodate or even show understanding, was extremely disappointing.

This experience left a very poor impression of De Bakke Santos. Clear communication and basic courtesy were completely lacking. I would not recommend visiting or staying here if you are travelling with family or joining others already booked on-site.

The best thing about De Bakke Santos is Location. What an amazing location, straight on the on the beach. All Chalets are built in a distance so proper privacy can be maintained. Chalets have small Kitchen with cutlery, so that you can prepare your meal, that’s great help as all the markets, restaurants and joints are far from here and if you don’t have a vehicle then it’s a task to walk any such places. Chalets have Refrigerator, TV, Microwave, Coffee maker. No Ceiling Fan or Air Conditioner and Washing Machine and Iron, that’s disappointing. Towels and Bed Linens are provided during Check Inn but they don’t clean the Chalet or change the towels !!

Bathroom was very small and not cleaned by the staff anytime.

They have seating outside the Chalets, that's really cool. You can enjoy your dinner or coffee in cool breeze. Nice view during sun rise and sun set. Very safe, secured and calm place. Little outskirts of the town.

Parking is also not problem at all. We had a very pleasant experience and recommended this place to anyone considering staying there for relaxing and isolating from the crowd.
