If you were able to award higher than 5 stars, this magical place would be more than deserving of it.

One of the most delightfully surprising and beautiful establishments I have ever stayed at. Every corner you walk around is another surprise, there is something new to look at, be it some interesting bench made out of some surprising object, or some interesting bird or wildlife to experience.

Die Houthoop has it all. Stark desert beauty, quaint beach-style accommodation, rustic camping (with the cleanest ablutions I have ever witnessed in my life) and guest rooms with everything you need, including a braai area, kitchenette, comfy bed and relaxing shower and bathroom.

We had originally booked to camp, however, after losing our tent and gazebo to a storm in Augrabies the day before, our back up tent was not up to the task of handling the harsh desert and coastal winds and the owner, Veronica, didn't even bat an eyelid when I asked her for help, immediately took us to a room where we stayed for duration of our 4 night stay. She charged us the difference between the room and camping without us even having to ask and even went so far as to assist us in having some of our laundry done.

While the sleepy little town of Kleinzee is something to experience, Die Houthoop was the star of the show for me. Very grateful I got to experience it.

A genuine gem! Hidden outside Kleinzee, close to Westcoast. Cute rooms, many accommodation options. Food was very traditional to the area and extremely tasty & buffet style- loads of food! Included a buffet breakfast - which was tasty too! Highly recommended 👌 👍.

Great place to relax that is in the middle of nowhere. Awesome food. Facilities are great. This is a place of tranquility, not for people that need disco vibes.

After the reviews we had read, we were rather disappointed. Very sandy camp site, to be expected for the area, but rather overgrown & really not clean - old teabags, bits of litter, full dustbin… the campers kitchen was a real turnoff.
We camped for 3 nights to explore the area.

We had a wonderful stay camping at Die Houthoop. There is a lovely kitchen area for campers and the bathrooms are neat. The owners were extremely kind and welcoming. We also booked the Christmas lunch and Jackie is spectacular at what she does! Would highly recommend!
