Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort

We camped here this past weekend and, unfortunately, have to say it wasn’t our best camping experience.

Thankfully, the weather played its part, but at “peak season” rates of R400 per person per night, we honestly felt our money would have been better spent elsewhere. Calling it peak season also seemed a little questionable when there appeared to be no more than six occupied sites out of 100+ during our stay. We assume the classification is based on the long weekend rather than actual occupancy.

One set of ablutions was out of order, with no obvious indication. Had another guest not happened to be using the bathroom at the same time, we would have been none the wiser and could quite easily have endured a cold shower.

The second ablution block thankfully had hot water, but the lights were out and the switch was almost impossible to find. We eventually located it while waiting for Maintenance, who arrived after we had finished.

The camping area was relatively quiet, but the chalets were busy with noisy guests until quite late. The cackling laughter was anything but conducive to the peaceful mountain atmosphere we had hoped for.

The extractor fans at the restaurant can also be clearly heard from the sites closest to the pool area, while the constant traffic of day visitors coming and going takes away from the quiet Berg ambience.

Ironically, the kids and dogs were probably the quietest guests there!

Overall, we were disappointed, particularly considering the price. We’ve stayed at some fantastic campsites where the experience has felt far more aligned with what you’re paying for, and unfortunately, this one didn’t quite make the mark for us. It feels there is a better market for chalet-staying guests here than for campers.

I went with my siblings and had a wonderful 4 days. We are all pensioners and found it to be ideal accommodation. The walks are pleasant and it was great to stroll up to the Drakensberg Boys Choir and watch their show. Highly recommend the place

We had an absolutely fantastic weekend getaway at Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort! The location in the heart of the Central Drakensberg is simply breathtaking.A special shoutout to Zandar, whose service was nothing short of amazing. Zandar went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, ensuring every need was met with a warm smile and absolute professionalism.The food at the resort's restaurant was another major highlight. Every meal we had was delicious, packed with flavor, and incredibly satisfying.Between the stunning scenery, top-tier service, and fantastic dining, we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Highly recommended—we will definitely be back!

Amazing 4 day stay at Dragons Peak. This resort is now my family's favorite place in Drakenberg. Special thanks to the Kitchen Manager, Zandar and his team for his great hospitality, kindness and making our stay more special with good food prepared to perfection. Also thank you to Daina and Desire. We had the most magical time during this long weekend stay. It was so special to my husband and myself. Love Dragons Peak. Rated 10/10, Exceptional service.

Booked a table in the restaurant ahead of time, both nights we have stayed at the resort, both days we have waited about 90mins for food. Service is pathetic, food was not up to standard.

Update: Eventually the manager was called, he was really friendly and sorted everythingout. 5☆ for fixing the issues.
