I booked a two-night stay but decided to leave after the first night due to my overall experience.

The ablution facilities were very nice and well maintained. The activities available at the resort were average.

My biggest concern was the fishing experience. Too many rods were allowed on a single stand. At one stage, anglers had up to 12 rods on one stand, with lines crossing into neighbouring fishing areas. This made fishing frustrating and unfair to other anglers.

Another major disappointment was that it was not disclosed that some of the fishing stands have a drop of more than two metres to the water's edge. This makes landing a fish extremely difficult and potentially dangerous because of the steep banks and holes leading down to the water.

I noticed that some other camping and fishing areas around the resort are well maintained and provide much better access to the water. Unfortunately, not all stands receive the same level of attention. If the resort promotes itself as a fishing destination, all fishing stands should be maintained to a consistent standard and provide safe, practical access to the water for landing fish.

Unfortunately, the fishing experience fell well below my expectations, which is why I chose to leave after only one night instead of staying for the two nights I had booked.

Dimalachite River Lodge is one of our absolute favourite camping spots. This place truly has a piece of our heart.

The camping sites are beautiful, well-maintained, and very clean, perfect for a relaxing break away. There are great facilities for children, including playgrounds, a large swimming pool, and a kiddies pool with fun bubble features under a roof, plus a slide into the pool.

It’s a peaceful and welcoming river lodge that we always look forward to visiting again. Highly recommended for families and anyone needing a proper getaway.

My fiancé and I have been visiting Dimalachite for the past five years—every December and often over long weekends during the rest of the year. It has become our absolute favorite getaway. It’s conveniently close to Johannesburg and just a short drive from the town of Parys, making it the perfect escape without traveling too far.

The camping sites offer breathtaking views and an incredible variety of wildlife, all in a peaceful, quiet setting that truly allows you to relax and soak in nature. If you enjoy fishing or river rafting, this is definitely the place to be.

The ablution facilities are well maintained, and the on-site shop has everything you need for those inevitable snack cravings and essentials. If you haven’t visited Dimalachite yet, consider this your sign to go—you won’t regret it. If I could stay longer, I absolutely would.
