Tucked between the charming towns of Heidelberg and Barrydale, Fleckvieh Guest Farm offers an authentic countryside escape on a productive working farm. This destination is a haven for those who appreciate the simple beauty of rural life, where lush green pastures are dotted with grazing sheep and the farm's namesake Fleckvieh cattle. Each site is well-equipped for a comfortable stay, offering dedicated electricity, a private braai area, and a convenient wash-up station. The communal ablution facilities are kept clean and practical, ensuring that the rustic experience remains comfortable. For added convenience, a small on-site shop provides all the essentials, from wood and ice to fresh farm milk, allowing you to settle in without needing to rush back to town for supplies.

Life at Fleckvieh revolves around the water and the great outdoors. You can spend your mornings paddling on the scenic dam, casting a fishing line into the stillness, or warming up in a wood-fired hot tub. The farm is a playground for active travelers, with scenic hiking and mountain biking trails that showcase the breathtaking landscape. Its location is ideal for day trips, situated just a short drive from the Tradouw Pass and the Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve. The views and tranquillity are absolutely breathtaking, and the comfortable bed, quality bedding, and canoeing made the boys' stay very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the accommodation itself did not match the beauty of its surroundings.
Although the cabin appeared clean on arrival, it quickly became clear that it had only been surface cleaned. After having to move the gas stove due to repeated faults and the lack of operating instructions, we were shocked by the amount of dirt and grime underneath. The same was true beneath the fridge and couches. I also had to wipe out the cupboards and clean several electrical appliances before feeling comfortable using them. This level of cleanliness is simply not acceptable.
The property is also in need of maintenance. There were leaking taps, a leaking toilet cistern, and faulty sliding doors. We also received no clear arrival or guest information, and better communication is needed regarding the communal wood-fired hot tub.
The manager was friendly and helpful and did her best to assist us with the gas stove, which we appreciated.
It is also worth noting that there are several unfinished building sites on the property, with construction still underway, which detracts from the overall experience.
With proper deep cleaning, routine maintenance, and clearer guest communication, this accommodation could truly live up to its spectacular setting. We stayed in the Eland cabin

Beautiful place with awesome scenic views. Very friendly receptionist/manager. Very helpful in every aspect to make your stay a wonderful experience. Only challenge is the roads when it rains. Certain vehicles might find it challenging. Loved the place, taking very special memories with me.

Beautiful Scenery 🌱 great for nature lovers! Family motivated farm, with lots of green open spaces and nearby lake for swimming. Our child loved it, it was a rainy weekend but full of fun. Traveling on gravel road, 4x4 Highly recommend!

The owner did everything to make our stay great from arrival till check out. Thank you so much.
