For travellers navigating the long, straight roads of the N9, Welvanpas Guest Farm is a welcome sight. Situated between Middelburg and Colesberg, this is the quintessential Karoo stopover. A short, 2-kilometre drive along a good gravel road takes you off the highway and into the profound quiet of a classic farm, where a historic farmhouse stands against a backdrop of rolling hills.

The intimate campsite features just 12 stands, ensuring a peaceful and personal atmosphere. You can choose between powered sites for a fully-equipped setup or unpowered options for a simpler tent pitch. Each spot has access to clean water and a braai, with firewood available at reception. The sparkling swimming pool is a highlight, offering a perfect way to cool off and wash away the Karoo dust after a long day's drive.

A major point of pride for the farm is the immaculately kept ablution facilities, which provide reliable hot showers. Beyond the campsite, the appeal of Welvanpas lies in its simplicity. It’s a place to stretch your legs with a walk into the hills, enjoy the unique flora, and marvel at the incredible clarity of the night sky, making it an ideal and secure recharge station. With prior arrangement, leashed pets are welcome.

An absolute little paradise in the unforgiving Karoo. Rita is an absolute first class hostess. We felt welcome from the moment we set foot. We camped and lodged for 5 months and were treated like family. The rooms are well kept and comfortable. The ablution facilities on the camping side always clean. Rita has the most beautiful garden and lawns and keeps the grounds neat and tidy. The team Stukkie and Emily are always ready to help where they can. The food served was exceptional and straight from the garden to the table, always fresh. The surroundings are so peaceful and observing the stars at night a must see. Thankyou for a wonderful stay and your generous hospitality Rita and team. We hope to see you again in the future. Chris and Amanda Barnard

Beautiful tranquil setting in a quaint Karoo farmhouse. Rita is an efficient and super friendly host. And you get lovely home-cooked meals. Clean and affordable accommodation. Our kind of place! We even had a lovely run on the farm and a swim in the pool.

What a holiday!
We had the most relaxing and beautiful three-week camping getaway 😁 A huge thank you to Rita and the team for their wonderful hospitality. The ablutions were always spotless and offered the best hot showers! The alpacas were such a treat to watch, and the abundance of beautiful birdlife made it even more special. We also loved exploring the farm’s roads on bicycle and our bakkie 😀 when we enjoyed the perfect picnic on top of the berg — what an unforgettable experience.
