Thabaledi Game Lodge

We visited Thabaledi as a family for Christmas worst decision we could have made. The lace is run by unprofessional n rude individuals with racist behavior, switching off electricity when they feel like we are making noise. The houses are full of stairs n no provision of candles r rechargeable lights the danger of falling n injuring yourself is high during darkness but it doesn't seem to be a concern for the management of the place. We were there with kids ranging from 2years of age the manager Annie had the audacity to tell me to keep the kids inside when I was complaining about the darkness and the risks involved she even said we should have brought our own lights.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE unless ur safety is not of importance to u.
To top it off the was no house keeping to maintain things like toilet paper in the toilets.

We visited THABALEDI as a family to celebrate Christmas, and it turned out to be the worst holiday experience we’ve ever had.

We arrived on Christmas Eve, having left our beautiful homes with clean pools, expecting a peaceful family getaway. Instead, we arrived at a dirty and poorly maintained place. The houses were filthy, the bedding was dirty, and there is no housekeeping at all.
Shortly after our arrival, the electricity went off. Annie, the manager, was extremely rude and unhelpful. She told us there was nothing she could do and that electricity can be off for up to four days, claiming it goes off whenever it rains. She showed no remorse or concern, completely ruining our Christmas. She said we must come buy candles at her store. She knows she has electricity issues but no solution, she doesn’t care about her clients and we paid alot of money since we booked 3 8sleepers.

There was no entertainment for the kids, pools not working, only one swimming pool, which was green with algae and unsafe.

On Boxing Day, Annie told us in our faces that if we make noise, she will switch off the lights, which clearly proves that the power cuts are deliberate. And she switched off the lights although we were not making noise. When we asked for a refund and said we wanted to leave, she told us to go home and said we would not get our money back. We left our homes that has solar panels all of the dirty place. What a black Christmas we had!!

Because the place was dark and unsafe, I fell due to the many staircases, and one child also fell and injured her knee.

The treatment we received was unacceptable, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing. Annie’s behavior was hostile and racist, making the situation even worse.

Please do yourself a favour and avoid booking with THABALEDI. What was supposed to be a joyful Christmas family celebration turned into a stressful, unsafe, and heartbreaking experience.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding our recent experience upon arrival at Thabaledi on Friday 29.08.2025. Unfortunately, the condition of the accommodation was completely unacceptable and did not meet even basic standards of cleanliness and maintenance.

Upon arrival, we immediately noticed:

No visible maintenance of the property

Dirty surroundings with no cushion covers

Spider webs and overall poor hygiene

Due to these conditions, we were not willing to stay and decided to leave immediately.

We visited Thabaledi Game Lodge recently.
Our unit was clean, spacious and most comfortable.
This is the bushveld and there will be spiders, other insects and monkeys. Make peace with it.
There are two pools to cool off in summer, a trampoline, tennis court, pool table and dart board.
No tv in the unit but a big one at the bar.
We visited the lodge for peace and tranquility and that is the main attribute of Thabaledi.
Definitely worth a visit!

I first went camping there in 2016. The place was beautiful with ever green lawn, functional pools (even at night). Proper ablution blocks.

But right now, it's a complete mess. It's dry, pools are not working, unclean, full of algae & frogs. Ablutions are either leaking, smelly, or simply not working. The weeds are overgrown.

New and capable management is needed as I think the current ones are old and can't keep up. It was so bad that we had to check out earlier than planned.

I would NOT recommend anyone to go here for any reason whatsoever.
