Description

As its name perfectly suggests, Kalahari Water is a world of surprising and beautiful contrasts. Situated on a lush vineyard farm on one of the islands along the mighty Orange River, this is where the unapproachable, arid world of the desert meets the rich, life-giving oasis of the water. Located just four kilometers from the town of Keimoes, it’s a destination that immediately immerses you in this unique and captivating environment. It’s a place where you can witness the vibrant green of the vineyards thriving against the backdrop of the red Kalahari sands.

The intimate camping area is beautifully and uniquely positioned to capture this sense of contrast and tranquility. The sites are nestled between the farm’s productive vineyards and a small, rocky hill, right next to a peaceful farm dam. This creates a wonderfully sheltered and serene enclave, a green haven where you can relax and feel completely removed from the outside world. Each of the well-maintained sites is equipped with a convenient electricity point, ensuring your stay is as comfortable as it is scenic.

Beyond the peaceful campsite, a world of adventure awaits. The farm is a true playground for the active traveler, offering a scenic 4x4 route, as well as dedicated mountain biking and hiking trails that lead to spectacular viewpoints overlooking the majestic Orange River. The river and the dam provide a constant source of fun, with excellent opportunities for swimming, leisurely tubing, and fantastic bird watching in the rich, riverine habitat. I have stayed a couple of times at Kalahari Water Adventure farm. The place remains a gem. One can go on hiking trips on the farm among the vineyards, climb the koppies and just enjoy the connection to nature the place has to offer. It is located not far from local attractions such as the Augrabies waterfalls, and ofcourse is pet friendly. The people running the farm are extremely friendly and pleasant to talk with, and will go out of their way to cater to your needs. The owner of the farm even sold me grapes fresh of the vines when enquiring about it. I truly had a great experience. The living units and tidy and well maintained and offer a large pool. I will not hesitate to use their accomodation facilities again

Wheel chair friendly, Surrounding is full of grape plantations , Rooms not bad small shops around. Here is no Malls you need to drive +- 40 kilometres to Upington to see one. The place is quite and peaceful

We have camped here 3 times. The camp sites are very nicely set up. Grape vines providing shade over each camp site and its car port. Each site has facilities for braaing, lighting and a water tap. Bathroom facilities are decent and kept clean.

The water pond makes for some entertaining fishing. There is a nice swimming pool that seems to be enjoyed by families with children.

The place feels safe and is generally quiet. A great stopover on the way to Augrabies or if you prefer not to stay Augrabies.

The name of this place is a bit deceptive, as are some of the reviews here, which insinuate aa winery on site. We got the impression that anyone can come for a day visit and that they offer water or adventure activities. But they turned us away, saying it's just a caravan park with a swimming pool that's only accessible to those who spend the night. Don't waste your time if you're looking for a winery, playground, pool or day visit only.
