The camping experience is designed to be both private and in harmony with the local building style. Each of the campsites is individually enclosed with beautiful reed fencing, creating your own personal and sheltered haven. These private enclaves are nestled under the generous shade of large, indigenous Waterberry trees, providing a cool and inviting atmosphere. The sites vary in size to accommodate both small and large groups, ensuring a comfortable fit for every party.

Each site is a well-equipped hub, featuring its own braai drum, a light, a water tap with drinking water, and an electrical plug point. The lodge operates predominantly on solar energy, and in line with this sustainable ethos, guests are kindly asked to cook with gas or fire to conserve power. Clean, serviced communal ablutions with hot showers are available to all campers. The social heart of the lodge is its wonderful communal area, which features a refreshing swimming pool, extra braai facilities, and a fantastic sunset deck - the perfect spot to gather and watch the day come to a spectacular end.

Utshwayelo is located right at the gate to the Kosi Bay Mouth, it has an amazing location.

Expect a rustic campsite and ablutions.

That being said, we had a wonderful time. The Kosi Bay Mouth may be the most beautiful place in South Africa, we snorkelled at the estuary in the mouth, unguided, and saw many beautiful fish and swam with the kids for hours.

Kosi Bay is a must visit!

If you are planning to take a trip to this side of SA, you wont make any mistake staying here! We had the best time! They made our stay so easy, we booked for breakfast, and for the mornings we went out early they made us lunchpacks instead. We stayed in ons of the turtle huts, cleaned daily by the most friendly staff. Mike helped us navigate our way to the mouth and they arrange the permits at the front desk. Easy peasy holiday! Love the place will come back for sure! Thanks Mike and the TEAM. It was amazing.

Great place, super comfortable tents with self catering facilities if you need them. Quite basic but very clean and well maintained. Couldn't really ask for more in this type of accommodation. And the location is stunning and a nice walk to the lagoon to do some kayaking and then further round to the ocean for snorkeling at a small but lovely reef. Food was tasty and the honesty bar worked really well. Staff lovely and friendly but the service could be a bit slow.

Thought it was way overpriced for such basic facilities offered with numerous coastal campsites that are far cheaper and have a sea view.

But my main gripe is all the hidden costs that are not advertised like R60 per person and R60 per vehicle if you want to go to the beach.

Having to get a new permit every day.

To get to any of the attractions in the area, you have to buy a permit

Surprised I didn't have to get a permit to go to the toilet

This place will never see me again
