Located on the iconic Route 62, "A Touch of Plaas" is more than just a name—it's an invitation to experience genuine farm life in the heart of the Klein Karoo. Set just outside Ladismith with the dramatic backdrop of Towerkopberg, this small campsite offers a peaceful and personal alternative to larger, busier parks. It’s the perfect spot for travellers who appreciate quiet evenings, vast starry skies, and the simple rhythm of the countryside. With just five exclusive campsites, the focus here is on peace and personal space. The stands are exceptionally generous, measuring 14 by 9 meters, providing plenty of room to comfortably manoeuvre a caravan or motorhome and set up a proper outdoor living area. Each plot is fully serviced with its own electricity and fresh water connection. The standout feature, however, is the convenience and privacy offered with each booking. Every individual stand comes with its own private, dedicated bathroom, complete with a clean shower, toilet, and basin. This thoughtful amenity elevates the camping experience, removing the need for shared ablution blocks. To further enhance your stay, all guests have access to well-maintained communal facilities, including a shared kitchen for more complex meal prep, a scullery, and a separate laundry room—a welcome convenience for those on a longer journey through the Karoo.

As its name perfectly suggests, Op-die-Plaas Camp offers a genuine, unpretentious "on the farm" experience, beautifully cradled between the Klein Swartberg and the Elandsberg mountain ranges. This is a destination for the true adventurer, a place of dramatic landscapes and elemental beauty. Due to its high altitude, the farm has a unique four-seasons character; the summer months are pleasantly mild, while the winters can be "Snow Cold," occasionally blanketing the landscape in a magical layer of white. It's a rugged and beautiful escape in any season. The farm's most celebrated neighbour is the legendary Seweweekspoort, with the famous northern entrance just seven kilometers away. The road through this magnificent "poort" is a breathtaking adventure in itself, a well-maintained gravel track that takes you through unspoiled nature with more than twenty river crossings. The farm is also the perfect base for the ultimate hiking challenge: a trek up to the summit of Seweweekspoort Peak, the highest point in the entire Western Cape. The camping experience is authentically rustic and in perfect harmony with the wild surroundings. You can find your own perfect spot, whether it's under the shade of the tall blue gum trees or out on an open patch of grass. The entire camp is supplied with pure, fresh mountain water, a true taste of the pristine environment. The surrounding network of gravel roads is a paradise for 4x4 enthusiasts and mountain bikers, while the remote location and lack of light pollution provide a breathtaking stage for some of the brightest, most brilliant stargazing you will ever witness.
