Long-Stay Campsites in Glentana

Situated in the Garden Route district, Glentana offers 1 long-stay campsite. The Garden Route is a district located on the southern coast of the Western Cape province. The landscape is characterised by a narrow coastal strip situated between the Indian Ocean and the rugged peaks of the Outeniqua mountain range. The regional economy is strongly driven by tourism, commercial forestry, and agriculture, alongside established marine fishing operations. The natural environment features dense indigenous woodlands, expansive coastal lakes, and deep river gorges. These diverse geographic attributes provide accessible environments for hiking, water-based recreation, and exploring protected marine and terrestrial reserves along the varied coastline.

The Western Cape features a highly diverse landscape that supports a vast network of established caravan parks and coastal campsites. Bordered by two oceans, the coastal regions offer sandy beaches and sheltered bays where campers frequently set up near the water. Inland, the terrain is defined by the rugged peaks of the Cape Fold Mountains and the surrounding valleys, providing shaded, tree-lined caravan stands and quiet farm campsites. Further north, the environment transitions into the dry scrubland of the Karoo, while the eastern belt contains dense indigenous forests. The local climate is primarily Mediterranean, bringing hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters to the western areas, while the eastern coastline receives year-round rainfall. This geography provides campers with environments ranging from forested retreats to waterside resorts.

Ietsie Plaas offers a wonderfully authentic and charming farm-stay experience. This is not a polished, purpose-built resort; it is a genuine, working dairy farm where you are invited to become part of its daily rhythm. From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in a world of authentic farm sounds, from the lowing of cattle to the crowing of the rooster. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with something real and tangible. The camping experience is a celebration of this rustic authenticity. In a wonderfully resourceful and character-filled touch, some of the old dairy's washing facilities have been cleverly converted into ablutions, preserving the true farm feel. The sites are spacious, and while there is no direct sea view, you are treated to a magnificent panorama of the Outeniqua mountains. Adding to the magical, nostalgic atmosphere, you might even see the old steam train puffing past the campsite from time to time. While the setting is rustic, the farm is a true paradise for children. At specific times of the day, they can enjoy a host of classic farm activities, from go-karting and rowing a boat to fishing and, best of all, helping to feed the farm animals. A well-equipped communal "Farm Kitchen" provides a wonderful social hub for all campers, and while power points are available, you are encouraged to bring a long extension cord. It is this beautiful, unfiltered, and utterly charming immersion in real farm life that makes a stay at Ietsie Plaas a truly unforgettable experience.
